Look for Laser Marking at the National Plastics Expo

If you mark plastics, you won’t want to miss NPE 2006: The International Plastics Showcase, June 19-23 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Highlighting the TRUMPF laser marking innovations on display in booth 10961 will be the VMc5 with marking on the fly and the VMc6. Both the VMc5 and VMc 6 units are adept at making precision marks on plastic.

Marking on the Fly with the VMc 5
The VMc 5 accurately laser marks plastics. Pigments or additives can be used to achieve the highest quality mark. At NPE, TRUMPF will demonstrate a new optional feature for the VMc5 called “marking on the fly” (MOF), which enables continuous workflow by marking moving parts. This feature is available as an option for all new VectorMark products. MOF is one of the numerous possibilities offered by the VectorMark compact and is part of TRUMPF’s easy-to-use marking software TruMark.

Advantages of MOF:

  • Able to mark moving parts
  • Power to mark long parts
  • Tubes and wire can be fed and marked continuously (any desired interval)
  • Marks plastics (with pigments or additives)

  • VMc 6: The Plastics Specialist
The VectorMark 6 was specially developed to laser mark plastic without any additives. The photon energy of this laser is so high that the molecular bonds of many synthetic materials can be broken directly.

    The result is:
  • High contrast marking
  • Photochemical marking, rather than thermal process
    It marks without:
  • Burning
  • Engraving
  • Or damaging the surface

  • By adding a minimum of energy to the part, the result is a high contrast mark.
