Beginning July 1, 2003, Rolf Biekert will serve as president and CEO of TRUMPF Inc., the North American subsidiary of the TRUMPF Group. Biekert will succeed Peter Leibinger, who is returning to Germany to serve as the president of TRUMPF Laser GmbH + Co. KG, Schramberg, Germany. Leibinger will remain on the TRUMPF Group board of directors, continuing to oversee North American operations, and will assume responsibility for the laser business unit.
Rolf Biekert, has been with TRUMPF for more than seventeen years. During this time Biekert has been successful in a number of professional and managerial positions both in Germany and the United States. Biekert began his career with TRUMPF in Germany as an industrial engineer in 1986, later serving as director of operations there, and is currently the vice president of operations at TRUMPF Inc.
In his new position, Biekert will be responsible for all of TRUMPF Inc.’s subsidiaries and business operations in North America, where TRUMPF employs more than 500 highly-educated personnel in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, research and development, customer service, technical training, product sales, applications and other areas. The company manufactures and markets a variety of fabricating machinery and industrial lasers, and produces punching machinery, laser machinery, and CO2 and Nd:YAG lasers at their US facility.
Leibinger leaves TRUMPF Inc. to head up TRUMPF Laser GmbH + Co. KG, a leading manufacturer of diode-pumped and lamp-pumped solid-state lasers for material processing. He will replace Paul Seiler, who retires in June. The Schramberg, Germany-based company has 550 employees working in development, production, sales, service and administration. Leibinger remains on the board of directors of the holding company (TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG), serving as executive vice president, and will assume leadership of the laser technology business unit of the holding. Leibinger also continues to be responsible for TRUMPF’s North and South American business.
