The laser helps to optimize the fabrication process in tube processing. In one single operation, holes and complex contours are produced and the tube cut to size. Compared with conventional processes (sawing, scribing, drilling, milling and punching), substantially lower manufacturing costs can thus be achieved.
Moreover, new tube designs are constantly being developed that reduce or simplify the downstream production steps. The use of kink or plug-in connections cuts the expenditure involved both for producing welding fixtures and for welding itself. Positioning aids with pegs and cutouts facilitate component assembly. Coding aids eliminate assembly errors.
For their developments, design engineers increasingly tap into the possibilities offered by laser tube processing. The demand for laser-cut tubes is therefore expected to continue growing.
