Washington Township, NJ - The expansion of Kennedy Medical Center's state-of-the-art surgical-care unit opened the door for the NJ hospital to become the first facility in the US to install the new TRUMPF TruPort Equipment Management Systems.(EMS) Commonly called Booms, ceiling-mounted Equipment Management Systems allow medical devices, gas,  power and communications to be optimally positioned close to the patient while care is being administered and then out of the way when not in use. Kennedy originally opened its new 22,000-square-foot surgical care unit in 2009 with seven rooms outfitted with TRUMPF OR products including Booms, LED surgical lights, modular operating tables and patient transport systems. The facility subsequently doubled its case load, leading to the need for three additional rooms. The 8^th OR is slated to open in April with rooms 9 and 10 scheduled for their first procedures later this year.
